Profile - Vinod Natesan

Mr. Vinod Natesan, previous Proprietor of Mayan Consultants International, is a post graduate of the Institute of Rural Management Anand, from the 86-88 batch. He started his career with the NDDB, as part of his Government scholarship requirements and was deputed to the World Bank, for project appraisals.

On completion of three years, he shifted to advertising. He serviced ITC, Procter & Gamble, Unilever and Telco accounts, while working for FCB, Lowe, and Leo Burnett. Within 5 years of joining the advertising industry, he rose to the level of an Associate General Manager, in 1996, and headed the Mumbai branch of PSL McCann Erickson. The agency won numerous creative awards, like the Clio, for work done on the Guestline Hotels and the Mahindra brands.

After starting a full service agency of his own in 1998, Mayan Consultants, and running it for two years, he joined JWT, as Assoc Vice President & Strategy Planning Director, in 2000. DSP Merrill Lynch, HPCL, BlowPlast, Kelloggs, UniLever and DeBeers, were part of his portfolio. He was part of the team, that won the Effies and the Subash Ghoshal trophy, for the “Nakshatra” launch.

In 2002, he shifted to the Middle East and was handling marketing assignments, with retail groups like the Landmark Group, with Tourism promotion bodies in Tunisia, and with tourism related authorities in Kerala. During his stint with the Emirate of Ras al Khaimah, which began in 2005, he set up the Tourism Office and the Media City, and left it as the Head of Operations, RAK Investment Authority, after a double promotion. The Emirate was ranked by the Oxford Business Group, as one of the fastest growing destinations in the Middle East, and the CEO named as the FDI Personality of the Year, in 2006, by the Financial Times, London.

From 2011, he spent time in Sub-Saharan Africa, handling the regional operations of Clients like Nestle, P&G and Samsung, for MNC affiliated agencies, in the capacity of a General Manager Strategy Planning, and then as a Deputy Managing Director.

On his return to India, he ran his consultancy, Mayan Consultants International, and was involved in account planning assignments for agencies, marketing and brand consultancy work for corporates, and investment advisories for overseas clientele. He has also been a Visiting Faculty, in most of the Management Institutes in Mumbai, since 1996 and continues to teach at Universities. He also involves himself in pro-bono social work.

He has recently completed his legal studies and has enrolled himself at the Bar Council of Maharashtra, to concentrate on providing legal representation and consultation, to clients. To provide undivided attention to the legal briefs that he undertakes, advertising and marketing activities have been delegated and diverted, to Associates from the Advertising Industry. Mayan Consultants has been rechristened as ‘Mayan Consultants Legal‘, with Vinod Natesan, as the Sole Proprietor. Advocate Vinod Natesan, now practices at the Honorable High Court of Bombay, on both the Original and Appellate Sides. He has also appeared at the Honorable Supreme Court of India, as a Non-AOR, as also at the Honorable High Court of Kerala, the Honorable National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, various Cooperative Courts in Mumbai and Trial Courts in Mumbai. He handles both Civil and Criminal Cases. Family Law proceedings, Intellectual Property Disputes and Real Estate Matters, are also part of his portfolio. He is now a member of the Supreme Court Bar Association.
